Dear festival team,
My name is Elvis Šahbaz, a contemporary classical guitar player. I have participated in the Fête de la Musique festival in my home country Slovenia a few times, which was a great experience. This year I wanted a new challenge and an opportunity to present my original music somewhere abroad. While browsing the internet, I came across your call for proposals, which is already open. I recognized it as an opportunity to share my creativity and musical works with a wider audience. For me, this would be a great privilege and an important step forward in my artistic journey. I am not entirely sure if I would be included in your selection, given that I come from a different country. Regardless of the outcome, I will still be happy to receive feedback.
As a biography, I will attach a summary that was written as a foreword to the release of my third album Beyond dreams:
Elvis Šahbaz’s music is gentle, playful and evokes a sense of timeless harmony. Full of hope, love, peace and inspiration, his compositions heal, connect and guide listeners, transcending dreams. As a self-taught artist with no formal musical education or written notes, Elvis creates music from the depths of his heart and soul, perfecting it with thoughtful and sensitive playing.
His third album, Onkraj sanj, reflects his life journey. The order of the songs follows the stages of life – from birth to maturity and beyond – and concludes with farewell and the transition to the beyond. His previous works explored the beauty of everyday life in the seaside town of Izola (Parenzana, 2017) and intimate, book-like narratives (Io, 2019). His latest album takes his art even further, offering a deeply personal and mature exploration.
I am grateful for the opportunity to apply to your festival, and I look forward to the opportunity to present my music at such a prestigious event.
